JCC competed in the 2022 Junior High MUDECAS Track Meet on Saturday, April 9th 2022, in Adams, Nebraska (hosted by Freeman). The JCC JH Boys took home first place with 110 points. Don't forget! There will be a silent auction and baked potato feed at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9th before the middle school winter music concert at 7:00 p.m. The high school band has rounded up many items to auction off including quilts, gift certificates, various baskets, a bluetooth stereo, and two tickets to ERIC CHURCH! Junior High Volleyball got under way this week. It is going to be a tough first week with games on Tuesday, Thursday and a tournament on Saturday. This does not give the teams a lot of time to make corrections for the next game. Tuesday was a home game versus the Palmyra Panthers. The C team played 1 set, while the B and A teams played complete matches. The C team won their set, the B team lost both their sets and the A team lost both their sets. Once or twice a month during the 2015-2016 school year, the fifth grade students have been studying dinosaurs. During the first semester, each student picked a dinosaur to study. The students have researched, written reports, given presentations, and built a replica of their dinosaurs. The dinosaur models are displayed in the common areas by the middle school's new gym. The sixth grade choir has started working on their music videos. I started this project with the sixth graders last year and it turned out to be a great project for them during this down time in January. We have a number of different groups using a various genres of music; everything from classic rock to hip hop. The students really get to open up their creative abilities with this project and I hope to continue it in the future. This semester in 6th grade choir we a starting out with a project. All of the 6th graders are creating music videos. They picked their own groups (if they wanted to be in one) and have picked their songs. This is a creative project for them with almost no guidelines – except that they must participate – to bring out some creative thinking. We have been learning a lot in math so far. The seventh grade math students have been working on fractions, decimals, percents and integers. They have been working on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them. They have also learned how to convert from one form to the other. They are currently working on integers and how to compute with them.
