Fifth Grade January Opportunities
January 15, 2018

The fifth graders are currently taking part in “Trout in the Classroom” sponsored by The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
Trout eggs in the eyed stage arrived on January 16. The eggs should hatch in a few weeks. After they hatch, they will be alevins. The alevins will live off their yolk sacs until they become fry.
The fifth grade students will observe and learn about the trout lifecycle until April 17. Then the fifth graders will take a field trip to Aksarben Aquarium by Greta where the trout will be released. During the field trip, the students will fish and take part in other aquatic activities.
On January 9th, Mr. Moles arranged for the fifth graders to attend the “Erth Dinosaur” showing at the Lied Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. This was the first time most of the students had attended the Lied Center. The fifth graders were awed by both the Lied Center and the “Erth Dinosaur” presentation. In addition, the students ate at Amigos/KingClassic and visited fire station #1. The fire fighters gave us a nice tour and an exciting visual as they very quickly left for a hazmat emergency.
Thank you Mr. Moles for arranging and allowing us to take this terrific field trip!
