Video update from JCC Superintendent Dr. Boldt (4/2/2020)
To Families in ESU 4 School Districts:
ESU 4 schools will be operating in an alternative learning environment for the remainder of the school year.
Per Governor Rickett's Directive Health Measure, all schools in Nebraska will remain closed and operate in an alternative learning environment for the remainder of the 2019/2020 school year. With this directive, all schools are closed to students until May 31st and cancels all extracurricular activities until May 31st.
Traditional graduation ceremonies are not going to be possible this May. Schools will be working to determine appropriate alternative methods to honor the Class of 2020 in each community, whether that be a ceremony at a later date or some other locally determined alternative graduation that complies with the guidance of health officials.
We continue to monitor the unfolding COVID-19 epidemic to anticipate its impact on our state. We are working with the Southeast District Health Department (SEDHD}, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), and other state and local officials on this situation. We will continue to communicate important updates to the public and our partners.
The CDC is putting out updated guidance daily; for the most up to date information visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html. To learn more about COVID-19, go to

March 25, 2020 ESU 4 School Districts Update
To Families in ESU 4 School Districts:
Based on recommendations from the Southeast District Health Department and the Nebraska Commissioner of Education, public and private schools within Educational Service Unit 4 are extending their closure date through May 1, 2020, with the possiblity of closing for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Each school will continue to provide educational learning opportunities for their students according to their own school plan.
This decision has been made with the highest level of seriousness. We acknowledge the challenge this places on our families, and each school will be engaging their families to help address their needs. A decision of this magnitude would not be made if we didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary to help ensure the general welfare and safety of our community at large.
Sincerely,
ESU 4 Superintendents and School Leaders

In light of new information we have received concerning efforts to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, we have made the decision to close school beginning tomorrow. Therefore, there will be no school for students beginning Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, April 3. At that time, the situation will be re-assessed to determine further actions. We will be providing more information regarding how the school will continue student education, work with our community to address our overall response, and continue to nurture the welfare of our staff and students as we continue to advance through this unprecedented event. As in all of our planning, the Southeast District Health Department will be our primary resource to help guide us.

NOTE as of 3/10/2020: There are no cases of COVID-19 associated with JCC Public Schools, or within the Southeast Nebraska District Health Department 5 County Region.
We have all heard much information about the Coronavirus through various news outlets or social media posts. We want everyone to understand that we are working closely with the Southeast Nebraska District Health Department for guidance in our implementation of preventative measures to minimize the spread of the virus. At this time, there are no confirmed cases of someone infected in their jurisdiction. In addition, the decision to close schools in Nebraska have all been out of preventative measures as opposed to confirmed cases. Our emphasis with all students and staff will be doing all we can in prevention.
If you suspect your student is ill, please keep them home from school.
