Youth L.E.A.D. Conference
Leadership – Education – Achievement – Dedication
by Mrs. Peters
Eight members of the 3-D Group attended this Leadership conference at Peru State College on March 7th. Students from across southeast Nebraska in grades 7-12 were invited to attend this event aimed at enhancing and building leadership skills to promote healthy decision making habits. There were several break-out sessions that students could attend during the day on bullying, leadership and John Underwood's Life of an Athlete.
Former Nebraska Cornhusker, Aaron Davis, was the keynote speaker. He got the students on their feet, made them laugh and inspired them to take the responsibility to be a leader in their school and community. Ben Goracke, Ethan Fricke, and Taylor Dudley had met Aaron before at a Regional Coalition meeting so they really enjoyed hearing him talk again. The students thought he was a dynamic speaker and would like to see him visit Johnson County Central sometime.
Most of the 3-D members who attended this event are also on the Johnson County Coalition team. The information and skills learned will be put to good use here at JCC High School, community and throughout the county.
