JCC FFA qualifies for National Land Judging

Johnson County Central FFA Land Judging Team of Samantha Teten, Isaac Buss, Cody Beethe, and Jessica Bohling has qualified to compete at Nationals after securing a 4th Place finish at the State Land Judging Competition held in McCook, Neb. on October 22nd.

Samantha Teten placed 4th place individually, Cody Beethe was in the top 20%, Jessica Bohling placed in the top 40%.

The top five teams from each state qualify for the National Land Judging event which will be held May 5-7, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Okla. At the state competition, 28 teams and 135 individuals participated from 7 different districts.

This year's team is coached by Craig Teten and Christy Hodges.

Students are expected to determine slope, soil texture, soil depth, soil permeability, soil erosion, soil thickness, land classification, and conservation techniques needed in four different sites. This contest incorporates science, math, and agriculture knowledge.
