Career Fair 2015
October 07, 2015
Five JCC students, Sharon Albers, Carley Broadfoot, Gunnar Burger, Chase Graham, and Carlee Walters, and Mrs. Moles attended the Explore It! Career Fair! held on September 29 at Southeast Community College in Beatrice.
The event sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Labor and Southeast Community College focused on helping students explore future plans beyond high school.
Students attended two career-centered break out sessions. These breakout sessions matched the interests of students as indicated by the Nebraska Career Connections Assessments taken by attending students. In the breakout sessions, employers answered questions about interviews, filling out employment applications, dressing for success at work and interviews, work attendance, positive attitude, people skills, respect for fellow employees, customers and employers and many other job related topics.

The career fair portion of the day gave students a chance to talk to and ask questions of southeast Nebraska area employers who represented employment options available to students directly after high school, with short term training, a two-year program or a four-year preparation program.
Students enjoyed listening to and participating in the motivating guest speaker presentation by Lamarr Womble, a Nebraska native and founder of “Passion for Leadership.”

His Passion for Leadership Pledge summarizes his message for students:
“We pledge from this day forward that we will live life to the fullest, treat people with respect, take advantage of all our opportunities, make it our mission to find our passion, keep it real and know our next step to accomplish our goals and live our dreams.
