November 01, 2022
Ten JCC high school students, (Hayden Huskey, Lee Xayaphonesongkham, Keegan Jones, Cameron Lowther, Trevin Huskey, Wyatt Case, Levi Mahoney-Boardman, Jersey Graham, Gabe Burki, and Kayden Badertscher) along with Mrs. Olivia Reuter attended Careers in Manufacturing and Engineering Technologies Day at Southeast Community College in Milford on Wednesday, October 26th.
They learned about the programs that SCC offers in these career areas, careers available and companies you can work for in the fields of manufacturing and engineering, along with job responsibilities and starting wages, some up to $50 an hour! They also participated in many hands-on activities throughout the day at various stations. Some of the stations they went to were electrical machine controls, conduit bending, ultrasonics, manufacturing engineering, precision machine, robotics and automation, and energy generation electronic systems.
According to Lee Xayaphonesongkham, the best part about the day was, "I really liked the conduit building station and I learned that I could do that as a part of a career someday."
Kayden Badertscher added, "I learned the skill of soldering and really enjoyed it because I actually got to do something hands-on, a skill I can use in the future."
