Johnson County Coalition Students Attend Legislative Day
By Peters, Joan on March 27, 2015
Three high school students attended the Region V Systems Legislative Day at the Nebraska State Capitol on Thursday, March 26th. This year the coalitions partnered with Project Extra Mile to give the legislature information on issues regarding powdered alcohol, underage drinking, prescription drug monitoring and marijuana.
The Johnson County Coalition also partnered with the Nemaha County Coalition NADDA to meet with Senator Dan Watermeier (pictured here) regarding these issues. He invited us to go in on the legislative floor to be introduced and to listen to the debate on Senator Ernie Chambers.
Due to the legislature recess we were unable to have lunch with the senators, but we did attend the presentation from the State Highway Department and Senator Kate Bolz.
