History:
The East Central Nebraska Conference history may go back to as far as 1946, when it had only four member schools: Herman, Fort Calhoun, Craig, and Kennard -- all from Washington & Burt Counties.
Six years later, the conference added Irvington, Arlington, and Bennington, with the first two exiting after 1958 and the third departing after 1961.
Waterloo and Yutan both joined in 1959, with Uehling joining two years later and Snyder joining the following season.
Yutan took a three year hiatus before rejoining in 1964. That same year, Cedar Bluffs, Weston, Mead, and Prague all joined. Original member Herman departed in 1966 while Omaha Brownell-Talbot arrived in 1967.
Following the departures of Uehling (1968), Craig (1969), and Snyder (1970), the conference added new members in Murdock (1969), Malcolm (1969), and East Butler (1970).
Weston left after the 1972 season and Murdock departed after 1975.
Three years later, Valley (1975) joined for a six year stay and Bennington returned for a decade-long stint.
In 1984, the conference added Louisville, Weeping Water, Palmyra, and Conestoga, with both East Butler and Bennington leaving after one year.
Elmwood-Murdock joined in 1988 and Fort Calhoun left the following year. Tecumseh joined the conference in 1991 and Conestoga departed after the 1994 season.
For the next decade (1995-2005), the conference membership stayed the same (Waterloo, Elmwood-Murdock, Cedar Bluffs, Louisville, Weeping Water, Malcolm, Mead, Palmyra, Tecumseh and Yutan).
After the 2005 season, Waterloo departed and the conference regained former members East Butler and Conestoga for 2006. In 2008, Tecumseh’s membership changed to Johnson County Central when the school was consolidated with Nemaha Valley. That same year, Cedar Bluffs left. In 2013, Freeman joined the conference.
After East Butler departed in 2015, three additional schools left in 2020 (Louisville, Yutan, and Conestoga). The conference added new members Auburn (2017) and Falls City (2020). It was the first time in 40 years since Falls City had been in a conference.
In 2022, Malcolm left the ECNC to join the recently formed Trailblazer Conference.
Current membership: Auburn, Elmwood-Murdock, Falls City, Freeman, Johnson County Central, Mead, Palmyra, Weeping Water
