JCC Competes at State Cheer

February 24, 2025

On Friday, February 21st, the Johnson County Central Varsity Cheerleading team competed at the 2025 Nebraska State Cheerleading Competition at the Heartland Event Center in Grand Island.

JCC finished in 8th place out of 17 squads in the C2 Game Day category. The team finished just under 4 points from 3rd place and less than 8 points from 1st, highlighting their hard work and dedication throughout the season.

In a historic moment for JCC, the Johnson County Central Unified Cheerleading team competed in the Sideline category on Saturday, February 22nd. This marked the first time in JCC history that a group has participated in Unified Cheer Sideline, and it was also the first unified team from Class C (or D) to compete at State Cheer.

The varsity squad was also honored with the Cheer Team Academic Excellence Award, which is awarded when a squad's cumulative GPA is 3.30 or above for the first semester. This achievement highlights the cheerleaders' commitment to both their academics and athletics.

We are proud of both teams for their outstanding performances and for making history in cheerleading at JCC and at the Nebraska State Cheerleading Competition in Grand Island. Their accomplishments not only reflect their talent but also their commitment to promoting inclusivity in sports.

Congratulations to the JCC Cheerleaders for their remarkable achievements!
